WNY Civic Hackathon Rules:
Registration
Sign-up on EventBrite:
All participants are expected to sign-up on eventbrite.
Hack Rules
- Teams can be up to four members.
- We encourage you to build an application which is civic themed.
- There will be presentations on Saturday for the datasets which will be available for the participants. Participants can choose to use these datasets or can use any other open source available datasets. If you wish to use data off any research you have previously done, please cite the same.
- All teams retain full ownership of what they have created during the Hackathon.
- Be respectful. Be thoughtful. Be open. Be awesome and have fun!
Demos
All teams are encouraged to submit their hack. At least one team member should be present in order to give a demo on Sunday for the hack to be presented.
Demos of your hack include but are not restricted to: Live Demos, Presentations, Code.
Hack Submissions should be straightforward and easy to understand.
Time Limit
Each demo should be not more than 300 seconds (5 minutes). Presenters will be told ahead of time and will be told how much time remains during the presentation.
Prizes
Prizes are given for first, second and third place. (Would be distributed among your team members)
There will be experiential prizes for each category: Housing & Blight, Transportation, Advocacy & Public policy
Code of Conduct
Our hackathon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, previous hackday attendance or computing experience (or lack of any of the aforementioned). We do not tolerate harassment of hackathon participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at any hackathon venue, including hacks, talks, workshops, parties, social media and other online media. Hackathon participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the hackathon without a refund (if applicable) at the discretion of the hackathon organisers.
